Disconnect and Sabbath

Unplug, recharge and thrive

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We’re all trying to do more, work harder and be more productive—but it’s important to disconnect from the madness. Taking time out for yourself is essential for both physical and mental health, yet many of us have difficulty doing so because of our demanding schedules. That’s where the Sabbath comes in—it’s a day of rest that lets us disconnect from work and other responsibilities so that we can focus on other important aspects of our lives.

You might be thinking that you’re far too busy to take a whole day off, but research has shown that resting properly and disconnecting from work and responsibilities leads to more energy due to reduced stress and improved wellbeing. Chances are you’ll be more productive and efficient for the rest of the week as a result.

Life seems to get busier and busier. We are constantly on the go. From work to family obligations to hobbies and more, there is often little time for rest and relaxation. This can lead to a state of constant distraction and mental fatigue, which can ultimately impact our physical, emotion and mental wellbeing.

Technology is one of the major contributors to our busyness. Technology is great but it can also be overwhelming. We’re constantly being bombarded with notifications, emails and social media updates. With our smartphones in our pockets, we are expected to respond to messages and emails right away, even when we’re not working. This can make it hard for us to disconnect and take a break.

But there is a special day each week where we can switch off our devices and focus on what’s important—that day is the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a gift of time where we can be present in the moment and appreciate what’s around us. It’s a day for rejuvenation, to spend time with family and friends, strengthening our bonds and deepening our connections. It’s a day to remember how much God loves us.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed and need a break, consider taking a Sabbath rest. Disconnect from the noise and busyness all around you and recharge your batteries. Spend some meaningful time with the people you care about. By doing this, you can improve your overall wellbeing, be more productive, and live a more balanced and fulfilling life.
